It is easy to forget the awesomeness of Sesame Street, but I've just been reminded. I got a DVD from the library for the kids, and I've been enjoying it at least as much as they have. Ralph Nader as "the consumer advocate in your neighborhood." Robert MacNeil of MacNeil/Lehrer interrogating Cookie Monster, with Kermit acting as Cookie Monster's overzealous lawyer. Monsterpiece Theatre spoofing The Thirty-Nine Steps. Phil Donahue telling Oscar to "hold that thought" in the middle of a rant. Just the whole urban, unpolished, melting-pottedness of the whole thing makes me so happy.
