Birfdays and a drabble
Happy birthday to sagefemme11 and mazily! My best wishes to you fabulous ladies. And to stick with custom, here is a little drabble for mazily (and atrata, though it's not her birthday for a while):
It was quiet in the kitchen, a rarity for this heart of a bustling house. Everything was still, but for a drip of water and the faint giggle of a gnome out in the garden. The clock lay on its back, forgotten in a pile of laundry. All nine of its arms were pointing at MORTAL PERIL, as they had for most of the last two years. Then, a new word appeared on the clock’s face, looking as though it had always been there. The quiet was broken as the hand labeled FRED clicked softly into the new position -- DECEASED.
