Gillian was cranky and tired this afternoon, and needed to eat about a half hour sooner than we fed her. When she tried to serve me some wooden play food and it kept rolling off the tray, she completely unraveled. I tried to convince her to use a plate with edges that would prevent the food from falling off, but she would have none of it. She sat on the ground, putting the food on and crying as it inevitably fell off again.
Finally I said, "Honey, I can't help you. I gave you my advice, and you don't want to take it. If you keep putting round objects on an unstable flat platform, physics dictates that they will fall."
She looked at me and wailed, "I don't want physics!!!"
