We now have a new front door, with an extra deadbolt built in to the frame. We have painted it so our neighborhood SS won't send us a nasty note. While the contractor installed the door, our kids and their friends danced on the old one as it lay on the lawn. The door is dead, long live the door!
Enough of that. Yesterday my parents enjoyed the lovely weather (sunny and 71), watched Gillian practice her ballet recital choreography, and sat on folding chairs in the driveway while kids scooted and ran and laughed and swirled about them. Later we had a decent dinner at Mimi's.
Today we ate at First Watch, the rocking breakfast place.
rt_hon_rackman and I were groggy because Gillian woke us up twice and Elliot woke us up once, but we drank coffee and dealt with it. Afterward I finished painting the door and
rt_hon_rackman made jambalaya. My dad, who is a theater aficionado, went with Gillian and me to see The Velveteen Rabbit at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater. Then we went home and ate the aforementioned jambalaya. I think my parents are having a good time, and I know I'm enjoying their company, as well as all of the meals they have treated us to.
Tomorrow I want to paint a wall and hang some pictures. It will be 77, so my parents can soak up a few more rays before they have to go back to real winter.
