Note to self: Trying to "tough it out" and not taking pain-meds before bed will only result in a sleepless night, and even more pain in the morning. Take the darn pills!
That said, Sunday was an adventure in pain; My back itself was sore enough, but now the muscles up and down either side were starting to spasm because they were suddenly having to do all the work, and I was more often than not "bent" to one side or the other, usually the left. Of course, there are no pharmacies open at 9am on a Sunday out here, so I had to resort to the Internet to look up the meds I was taking to see if I could also take Methocarbamol (a muscle relaxant) and Acetaminophen. I checked three different sites, and they all said the same thing; "Yes you can, but it might make you extra drowsy, so don't drive or operate machinery, yaddayaddayadda..." I had no plans to do either of those, so down the hatch!
No matter what they claim, pain-killers never work as fast as the makers claim they will. It took well over two hours before the pain began to subside, but at least it eventually did. Trixstir did the driving, and we managed to get everything that we needed in Swift Current including a new heated water-bucket for PoohBear and Dirk.
Monday was a little hazy, but I remember dozing with the heating pad under my back (felt great!) and getting some groceries in town. Ah yes, I got the insurance policy on the farm paid for, and increased the coverage on the shop and my liability insurance for Iron Pony. My agent also told me that I could get an "umbrella policy" that would cover all of my other policies (in addition to, not replacing them) and would provide an extra $10 MILLION in liability insurance! Hmmmmm.... definitely something we will be considering.
The weather has been incredibly mild lately; +17c in the middle of November?! Trixstir had to be in Swift Current early this morning for some tests, so I hobbled around the horses' paddocks taking care of them and enjoying the weather before heading back in around Noon to make lunch and tackle a pile of receipts that needed sorting. I worked on that until the Kidling got home, then got cleaned up and took him to his music lesson. His teacher is very happy with his progress, and he'd probably be ecstatic if the little bugger would actually practice!
Tomorrow I hope to finish sorting out the receipts, pay some bills, and if my back is up to it, get some outside stuff done while the weather holds.
