It might not officially be Winter yet, but it feels like it now and The power in town has been flickering all day (I would assume the same is happening at the farm.) About 20 minutes ago, the lights went out, came on again, then went out again at the same time as a loud WHOMP!! noise from outside. Freezing drizzle and ice-fog have been an issue throughout the day, and I suspect one of the big transformers (or at least one of the massive circuit-breakers) at the sub-station blew. Fortunately, all of my computer equipment at the shop is on UPS systems, so I just backed up the database (a daily routine) and shut everything down. Shut down the NAS drive and the UPS too, since there's no telling when the power will come back on. It was past closing anyway, so not like I'm losing any business as a result.
I'm just glad we got the generator at the farm all tuned up and prepared yesterday!
