A Little Warning Next Time, Please?

I got a bit of a nasty shock at the shop yesterday morning; I arrived to discover that all three of the open "ramp trailers" I had in the yard were missing! My immediate thought was that they had been stolen, or that someone thought they could "just borrow" them to haul stuff from the auction last weekend. Before going into full-on panic though, I called Traffic Control with U-Haul to make sure they were not behind it. I'm glad that I did, because it turns out they did come and grab them! Apparently one of them had an expired DOT certification, and Regina was desperately short of trailers so they needed them there. OK, but they could have left me one trailer, you'd think; and it wold have been really nice if they had phoned or at least sent an email about it! Ironically, I had a potential customer ask about renting one "in a few weeks", but they didn't want to put a reservation in because they were not sure of the time-frame. I did warn them that things were rented out on a first-come first-served basis, but that it was unlikely that all three would disappear at once. Ooops... :/

On the plus side of things, a package arrived containing critical parts for several repairs. I had told the supplier to ship them "FAST", and they certainly did! They would have received the order on Friday morning (I entered it into the order-system late Thursday night) and I had the package by Monday morning. I was so pleased that I fired off a quick email to one of the owners to thank him and his staff for the quick service. I got a reply back later in the day thanking me for the note, and saying that it had really made his day. I also noticed that he had cc'd a copy to his brother (business partner), my local rep, and a couple other folks who I assume must be the guys in parts and shipping. Nice to see that good word get shared. :)

Getting those parts so quickly did help a lot too - I got two machines completed yesterday, and will get a couple more out today (if all goes well.) April is generally the start of "crazy time" and it looks like it's going to be a busy season.
