The stupid, it burns...
Just like the icon says... While there were some good things today, there was also way too much stupid. Reading through my newsfeed on FaceBook only made that feeling worse.
I got onto the Internet at what I like to call "The Beginning of the End of the Golden Age" when there was actual content, very little porn-spam, and AOL didn't exist yet. Web-browsers were in their infancy, and most work had to be done through a UNIX command line, which was basically a built-in idiot filter. Now, for better or for worse, just about any idiot can get online, and the stench of stupidity keeps burping up like bubbles of noxious gasses blurping out of a festering cesspool.
While I enjoy the connections with friends around the world through things like LiveJournal and FaceBook, the amount of willful ignorance (aka Stupidity) and hatred on the Internet is horribly depressing. I'm not stating that the people I associate with are stupid and hateful, but they do post links showing such things and bemoaning the fact that it exists. I'm guilty of doing the same, so I can't really complain about that. It would just be nice if there wasn't anything to moan about.
Unfortunately, as much as it seems otherwise at times, there are far more sinister things on the Internet than cute/silly cat videos. :/
