Keep 'em Moving!

Things continue to (slowly) move out of the shop.  Today I finally got that blasted Sears roto-tiller completed; I flushed the fuel tank, and that seems to have eliminated to major problem.  Pain in the butt, and something I need to remember.  I had a lawn-mower with a similar issue earlier this Spring, and it would have saved me a lot of time and grief had I just flushed the fuel-tank first.

People keep bringing in ancient stuff, and expect that I can fix it.  No manuals of course, and stuff that old often isn't going to have a manual available online either.  Two cases in point: an old Sears mini-tiller that I can get a rough idea from by finding a manual close enough to it to work, and an old Pioneer chain-saw.  Pioneer was a Canadian company, but was bought out in 1979 by Husqvarna, who kept it going for another couple of years then shut it down.  Wouldn't want to have any competition, would we?  :P  In any case, a customer brought in this old saw that at best is from 1982!  Amazingly enough, all it needed was a good cleaning and a new spark-plug, and it runs like a charm!  One or two pulls and it fires right up!  You can feel the power in this thing too - though the modern saws have vibration-dampening systems that probably make them feel like there's less going on than there really is.  Running this beast for several hours could really make you ache...

The forementioned Sears mini-tiller is back on the shelf again, awaiting even more new parts.  A couple of gaskets got shredded in the process of removing the heavily-fouled carburetor, and they'll have to be brought in.  Thankfully they're cheap, and they're available!  I've ordered four of each to make sure I have some extras in the future.

I've got to make my motel reservations ASAP for my trip down to Kohler WI.  Anyone in the area interested in hooking up for a bit while I'm down there?
