How on Earth did it get to be the 10th of June already? I haven't made an entry since May 31st, though I've certainly wanted to. To say that I've been incredibly busy is an understatement; It seems that the faster things go out of the shop, the faster new things come in. Every time I think I'm about to get ahead of the backlog, more stuff piles onto it.
I went to an auction last weekend, spending far more than I should have; the big-ticket items included three different STIHL outdoor power tools, a high end self-propelled rear-tine Honda roto-tiller, and a 48" Husqvarna walk-behind commercial mower. My plan is to rent or re-sell most of these items, and I've already had some inquiries about them.
Mom arrived from Calgary on Monday, but not before I threw out my back. Trixstir got called in to work Monday, and we couldn't get a sitter on such short notice, so I took The Munchkin to work with me. Things were OK for the first two hours, until I had to change her around 10am. It was while I was bent over changing her that something gave out in my back, and the rest of the day was pure agony.
It was Thursday before I was able to do any real mechanical work in the shop; My back was simply too sore to do a lot of work, so I did my best to get caught up with paperwork while my back recovered. I've hot the preliminary work done on getting affiliated with the Better Business Bureau, and basically just need to sign the documents and send them back.
I attended the Installation portion of the 2012 Elk's convention in Swift Current on Saturday afternoon; Andy Cox, a long-time member of the Shaunavon lodge had been elected as the Provincial President, so it was rather important to attend the ceremony and show support. I was also able to complete a Sears service-call in the area afterwards, so I can bill the cost of the trip to Sears.
Today I spent the morning and part of the afternoon trimming Bonnie's hooves. She's only had it done a couple times, so she's still not entirely used to the procedure, but overall behaved pretty well. Afterwards, I helped Mom weed the rock-garden (in the rain) until about 5pm when we finished. A hot bowl of cream-of-mushroom soup was much appreciated after that.
It's just after 9pm, and I'm so sore and tired that I'm ready to call it a night already. Not likely to get much sleep though, since someone's got the TV turned up too loud, and everyone is talking far too loud. Ear plugs are not an option, as I've already found out trying to deal with Trixstir's snoring.
Here's hoping that the upcoming week is an improvement...
