NOT Happy, GM...

The GM dealership called bright and early this morning (too early for my liking!) with the results of their inspection on the van.  Turns out that some part of the steering mechanism is wearing out (I don't remember exactly which part) and that's what's causing the problem with the alignment.  So they'll need to order a new part, install it, then do an alignment, yaddayaddayadda...

And, oh, BTW...  Your warranty expired 2000km ago, so you'll have to pay for this yourself.  Going to cost around $400.00

With the amount of driving we do, that means it expired about two months ago.  Great.  The blasted thing probably failed before then, but it wasn't until we took it in for the winter tires that we noticed the problem.  The dealership offered 20% off the parts & labour, so I'm happy to take the discount, but I still feel that we're getting royally shafted.  It always seems that even when something is under warranty, there's always some loophole that manufacturers (or shifty clerks) will use to wriggle out of having to honour it.  I've learned over the years that those extended warranties, especially in regards to computer equipment, aren't worth the paper they're printed on.  :/

Other than that, well, at least it's Friday!  :)
