Gravity [Please]

Gah, the horse show was such a blast; I can now understand why people pay hundreds of dollars to show in Wellington. Littlewood's show grounds are impressive (to say the least) and some of the property around there is absolutely drool-worthy. I could get into the details about how I was running 24/7, schooling five times a day or breaking in my tall boots, but I think a class rundown would be more interesting (horse ridden is in brackets):

I. Pleasure Horse Non-Thorobred [Joli Harmoni] : 2nd out of 4
My first class at my first show on a horse I've ridden maybe twice before, and I went in entirely confident, though I overrode his canter and caused a break. Phooey. Manaka broke, too, though, so I'm guessing it was judicial preference. Either way, it was a fun class.

II. Low Hunter U/S [Another Story] : 6th out of 6
My first class with Charlie after the ring crew decided to run all Baby Green, Low Hunter, and Adult Low Hunter trips at once; so Charles had a 30 trip break to go from spectacular to spooky, and he took full advantage of it. He had beautiful trot work where I just pushed him into a Training Level frame, but at the canter he just started bucking and kicking out.

...right in front of the judge. Smooth, Charlie, smoooth.

III. Pleasure Horse Non-Thorobred [Another Story] : 3rd out of 3
Once again, bucking at the canter, but exquisite trot work. I think he was just feeling fresh because of the change in temperature between yesterday and today. All-in-all, he was less spazzstic than yesterday, and seemed more comfortable with Ring A, though.

IV. Sales Class [Desert Storm] : 1st out of 1
Ah, I love Stormy, but this mare would not place in any decent competition. *g* She's safe, sane and mostly brave if either you're brave or you let her look at it, but she travels with her head way up in the air, thanks to some abusive trainer that ripped at her mouth. She did her job well, though, since it was her first time in the sales ring, ever.

There's plenty more to say about the show, but it would fill about four LJ entries and be absolutely pointless. The main things I learned are that:

1. Winter's End folk are really quite nice.
2. Charlie is not brave enough to be a jumper properly. (Was eliminated from Mod. Hunter with Caroline)
3. Prices in Wellington have 60% inflation over Stateline Tack.
4. You never feel thirsty or hungry at shows. Consquently, you will lose tremendous ammounts of weight. [I lost 6 lbs. in two days.]

Ah, and it was just fun. Tracey wants to start me jumping again, but I'd like to learn a little more flatwork on Charlie, first, so that, perhaps, his bucking rancor could be eliminated. He's got it in him, he just refuses to admit it.
