I went to Thanying at the Amara Hotel yesterday for dinner with K. My advice is - don't bother - it's a travesty of Royal Thai cuisine, and a costly disappointment - one can get much better in Bangkok for half the price....

oh there's been a bit of press on that guide here,, mostly pple saying how japan doesn't care really cos they've been doing good food for so long why do we need a bunch of foreigners to tell us how good it is?? lol.. and the restaurants covered half of them are by invite only (the kind you don't pay your bill, they send it to your house the day after) very interesting! heh.
