THE FIRST BROADWAY COMPILATION I EVER OWNED and Thus, Cried Over

You people remember boy dont you? Yes, well... back during the time of boy I asked him if he knew someone with the equipment to burn a cd from a cassette tape. Apparently his sister had the thingamabob to do it. I gave him a tape I had.
THE TAPE.
This tape meant the world to me. I honestly cant explain.
It was senior year in HS. The production was TKAM ( To Kill A Mockingbird ). I girl whose name slips my mind would give me rides home because my mother wont do it after the last production ( BR- Big River ) but Ill be damned. Ive finally found what I love through and through. I auditioned got a part and if I were to walk home every night, so be it. I wasnt NOT rehearsing and performing.
Anyway.
The girl who gave me rides home played a tape once in the car. It was amazing. Something Id never heard but I knew some of the songs already. Let me stop hear to explain I dont remember how I knew ANY showtunes. I dont recall the first times for a single song and ballad. We didnt even get the internet in my house until the summer after I graduated so it wasnt the WWW that introduced me. I honestly cant say how Chicago, Cabaret and Phantom became my favorites in HS. Grease, well we ALL knew Grease and anyone who doesnt love it cant suck my cock!
So... she played this tape and the beautiful girl said after my enthusiasm that shed make me a copy. And lo and behold, she did.
I never knew the correct names for most of the songs or have a clue what shows they were from but I loved it all the same.
This is what I used to do... and still do but with a bit more discretion since these walls Im sure can talk.
I would put on a pair of seventies heels my mom had given me, turn on the cd ( or tape deck ) and sing and dance my heart out. For hours Id go at it with choreography Id make up for each number. Id sweat profusely and feel great doing it. Its my drug. THEATRE!!! I was practicing, rehearsing for that stage Im destined to be on one day.
Well.. fast forward to earlier this year.
The boy leaves with the tape. After so long I continue to remind and I receive reason after excuse. Then it happened.. boy and I were no more. He had keys to my apartment building and room and my tape. I was FURIOUS!!!
He wasnt returning phone calls so I took things into my own hands. I stole my keys back with the help of an accomplice whose names Ive mention before.
Well, he cant break in and sniff my panties but he has my tape and Id give ANYTHING for my tape to be back in my possession. Sure, I dont have a tape deck any longer so I couldnt listen to the showtunes unless I pulled out a Walkman I won at gradfest but thats all beside the point.

Remember Liza With a Z? Of course you do, I mentioned it the other day. Well I watched the dvd tonight after dling the soundtrack to Itunes and belting those numbers cross Chestnut St. Its Liza with a Z, not Lisa with a S because Lisa with a S goes "ss" not "zz"... I could go on and on but its not as much fun reading it as hearing it sung.
After watching the dvd with my character shoes on I was going through bonus features and discovered that 'Kiss of the Spiderwoman" was an Kander/Ebb song. What!?
I got anxious again for my tape.
Lets open up Notepad and write down all the song names that I had made up and could remember. Well, heres the thing about musical theatre: Its very straightforward. Every last song title I wrote down happens to be the correct title.
I started a search on amazon and google trying to find compilation disks with these songs on them. The more I discovered was that all of them were K/E songs. And Id go through a new list and see a title and freak because, "Hey! I remember that song too!"
After its all said and done.. I found it. I wasnt even sure this was an actual cd for retail or just songs my mystery ride had thrown together. But there it is.. those rare versions of K/E songs from theatre.
I couldnt be more excited right now.. well I could but Ive been squeeing for about an hour now.

I know this entry is fast paced and not all together and thought out but I NEEDED to get this out. Im just so excited!

Post Scriptum: Gale as one of the sexiest men in People mag is so kick ass.
I was in Aldo shoes today and while waiting for the girl to bring my shoes out I was checking out mens shoes. I have this thing where I love to shop mens apparel and shoes because .. well its just so fun! Anyway, there were these shoes and all I could think was 'Brian Kinney' and how naughty I felt holding a shoe that BK would wear. Well maybe not BK, it wasnt Prada but at least Gale.
SQUEE!

Good Good things. All I need now is that second job and Ill be set!

broadway, gale, theatre, tears, kander/ebb, boy, music
