The Happiness Meme (7/8) and (8/8)

Jan 26, 2009 11:59

Sorry about missing yesterday. Getting back into the daily grind is exhausting. Blech.

THE HAPPINESS MEME
Rules: For eight days you have to post something that made you happy that day.

Day 7 (Sunday, January 25th): Realizing that I had all my homework done from the week before and could actually do preparatory reading homework for class. YES, I'm a dork, but I did feel way more prepared in sociology today, so it's all good. :)

Day 8 (Monday, January 26th): At work tonight, my manager told me that he hired me because he "took one look at your resume and went 'well damn, that's organized!' and I knew we had to hire you." Made me feel good to know that someone appreciated the time it took for me to format (and reformat!) that damn thing. :)

Happiness meme bloopers:
Or: things that made me kinda-happy but not enough to actually make it onto here. :) Enjoy if you want.

DAY 1: One of my coworkers joking around and "trying" to pick me up. Not that it worked or that we're like that at all, but it was slightly amusing.
Him: So. Whatcha doin' tonight?
Me (cold and grumpy): Uhh, working? Dish room?
Him: *sigh* Seriously? I meant like, after work. I was messing around...like, totally trying to pick you up.
Me: Uh, sorry? Err...(*racking brains for witty comeback*...*looks coyly up from under uniform-mandated baseball cap*) Well, nothing too important...it looks like it's going to be a boring night by myself (I considered fluttering my eyelashes, too).
Him (grinning): THERE! *wanders off for coffee and a cigarrette*

DAY 2: Finally getting permission from my mum to attend the Fall Out Boy concert. Tickets are less certain, but still. YAY!!

Day 4: Work again. This time, one of my coworkers (a different one than from Monday) was tossing balls of used parchment paper across into the wastebasket that was a good 7-10 feet away. After missing a few, he finally starts to aim better, and scores three in a row.
Him: Aaayyooooh! You see that!?
Me: I saw that!
Him: Did you think I was gonna make it?
Me: I never doubted ya; I had complete faith in your abilities.
Him: Hell yeah you did. I could feel the faith. I mean, that's the only reason why I made that shot right there. I could FEEL it.
Me (grinning): Yup, that's me. Just radiating my faith in you. Right there.

Day 8: Learning I got 94% on my first anatomy test this term. HELL YEAH!
Watching my roommate bang a pot on her head and say "You know, my head produces a good-quality tone." At which point my other roommate and I began concocting elaborate scenarios where Roomie #1 became a famous pot-to-head-banging musician and we construct elaborate tours and music videos. And everything would be b'dazzled. HAHA.

Meme (from somewhere, possibly Facebook or someone around here...snag if you want. :) )
Pick 5 songs and 5 films that make you cry and 5 that make you happy.
     Then explain why.
They don't necessarily have to be your favourite - just as long as they make you emotional!

Sad songs
1. Chasing Cars-Snow Patrol (it’s haunting and sad and…*sigh*)
2. Perfect Ending-Straylight Run (...just listen to the lyrics. Or read them. Or whatever. But man!)
3. Iris-Goo Goo Dolls (Just get me in the right mood and I'll bawl.)
4. Home-Michael Bublé (when you’re 150 miles away from everything you grew up with and you’re stressed? You’ll cry, too)
5. Collide--Howie Day (I heard a guy I know perform it acoustic and DAMN it was about the most heart-wrenching song ever.

Sad movies
1. The Notebook (Love lost and gotten back and ANGST)
2. The Secret Life of Bees (the scene where she’s throwing the jars of honey against the wall and asking why she wasn’t loved and then again when her dad leaves her. I was cyring in the theater, ugh!)
3. Titanic (How do you NOT cry?)
4. P.S. I Love You (I’ve seen maybe 15 minutes of it…but being loved THAT MUCH by someone and then losing them is so heartbreaking)
5. Pan’s Labyrinth (After going EVERYTHING, from her douche-y stepfather to WWII, the ending just isn't satisfying)

Happy songs
1. I Don't Care--Fall Out Boy (♥ for FOB. Who I'm seeing in May. Heh)
2. Livin' on a Prayer--Bon Jovi (WOOOAAAAHHHH-OOOH! Seriously? Nothing? Not even a smile? Damn.)
3. I’m Yours-Jason Mraz (He’s mine. What’s not to love? And my baby sister loves this song)
4. Doctor Who theme song (I think it's almost a Pavlovian response by this point, heh)
5. Lay All Your Love on Me-ABBA (bahaha, I love to sing along to this)

Happy movies
1. The Notebook (*see above* and Ryan Gosling, hee)
2. Pride and Prejudice (hullo Mr. Darcy!)
3. Constantine (totally badass)
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (it was the first PG-13 movie I saw in theaters, man. AND Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow? THIS is what made that character classic)
5. Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit [or any Wallace and Gromit, really] (…heh?)

Okay, now that you've all learned far too much about me and my hormones (lol) I'm going to leave you all. Hope everyone's weeks are going well! Whee!
