In Pursuit of... A Many Splendored Thing.

For some of you in LiveJournal land, this may come as a complete shock. Kind of out of the blue. But since I haven't posted an update in a REALLY long time, I thought it was time to get it out there. Well, that and the fact that I'm about ready to start singing from the rooftops and grabbing random people on the street and telling them about how happy I am. Since the latter might involve the police and restraining orders, I thought maybe I should come here instead! So, my dear LJ friends... the few who still read this thing... I am completely, utterly, and head-over-heels in love, and it's time the world knows.

I met Jason a little over a year ago while playing WoW. Crazy, huh? Well, we hit it off, and ended up talking every day. Chatting in WoW turned into chatting on Messenger, and that turned quickly into lengthy phone conversations last February and March or so. Jason was there when I felt like mud working at Convergys, and he was there when I felt like absolute shit while everything happened with Patrick. Jason made me realize that Patrick wasn't good for me, and that I deserved to be treated better. His simple presence reminded me that there really are good guys out there who know how to man up and take care of things... guys who can spell, and form coherent arguments... who would rather let the light in than shut it out, and who would rather give someone a hand than push them back down. For all of you who told me later that you were so glad I left Patrick, you can thank Jason, because without him, I don't know how I would have managed it. This time last year was utter Hell, and Jason was the one holding the flashlight at the end of the dark tunnel.

So it stands to reason that some feelings might develop, right? lol Over the past year, we've had maybe 5 days where we haven't had any contact. That's it. We have so much in common, it's kind of ridiculous. He's vegetarian, loves cats, is a huge geek, and likes Star Wars and Weird Al and Doctor Who (Oh, dear God, does he love Doctor Who... O.o ). He's incredibly sweet and compassionate, smart and funny. The regular procession of nerdy puns crack my shit up. Also, it's a rare day that I meet anyone who actually uses words I'm not familiar with in everyday conversation. Well... it was until I met Jason. We were making a snowman in Harvard Yard yesterday and he refered to one of the snowman's parts as an "oblate spheroid." Seriously! He's the reason I have dictionary.com on the quick links bar on my web browser. Did I mention the three Master's degrees... with the last one being from Harvard? Oh, did I also mention that he TEACHES at Harvard? -swoon- That's right, guys, your good friend, me, managed to woo a Harvard man. HAHA! Who saw that one coming? I sure as Hell didn't. Ok, so I'm gushing a little... but it's ok for a girl to be proud of her man, right? :)

Ok, I'm starting to get tired, and this is turning into a novel, so I'll wrap this up for now and continue later...

I went to Boston last weekend to see him, and had the most wonderful time. There was singing along to Weird Al in the middle of a traffic jam, Tron 2, Indian food, Magic: The Gathering with Jason's brothers, snowman building in Harvard Yard, and breakfast at IHOP! I seriously cannot describe how amazing I felt afterward. Getting on the plane to come back to St Louis was horrid, and I may just be moving to Connecticut in the not so distant future. I think I'm starting to like snow. Weird, huh?

EDIT - So... I was going to leave this as friends-only so it didn't show up on Facebook, but I decided that I don't care. It's going public. That's just the kind of mood I'm in. :D

love
