As it turns out, my saddle is a very NOT GOOD fit for my mare. I have immediately discontinued use of it and have scheduled a saddle fitter to come out for an evaluation and measurements

She's a stonewall sporthorse! Her coloring is like a roan appaloosa, she's got a rainbow assortment of spots. Specifically, she's half friesian, quarter appy and quarter percheron.

The El Companero looks pretty cool. I likely won't be out on trails bareback or with the pad any time soon, it will be ringwork and the basically flat 2/3 trail that outlines the perimeter of the property I board at.
And gosh, I've been considering treeless saddles as an option if I do another endurance ride, but it's in the price range where I need to wait for next year. I also have to decide whether to buy a jumping saddle, dressage, AP or endurance once I've got the go-ahead. Too many choices!
Thank you for the advice. I'd likely lean more to a treeless saddle if I really wanted stirrups and the bareback feel. Maybe I'll find something local, there's a big endurance contingent out here that uses them.
