I looking into getting a GoPro to document my trail rides and flatwork when I start my lease. I’ve been very lucky so far to have had a dedicated photographer (my mom haha) that has stuck it out with me during my lessons this winter in an outdoor arena. The videos and photos have helped me immensely in figuring out areas where and how I can improve- I think that has contributed to my leaps and bounds of progress the past couple of months despite being a weekend riding warrior. To avoid inconveniencing my mom and/or others when the lease starts, I’d like to get a GoPro to continue documenting my rides in the more than often case I can’t find someone to film/photograph for me. I plan to bring it out with me to the barn whenever I do flatwork to record our rides and send video to my instructor for feedback. It’ll also be taken out on the trail but that's mostly just for my own fun (will be getting a helmet strap for that).
My question is which one should I get? I could go all out and get the Hero 3 Black but I’m okay with a lower tier camera/recorder as long as it gets the job done (while saving a little money). I’ve read reviews and I have no problem spending on a Hero 3 but can’t decide between Silver or White. Has anyone used either or has a personal preference? Or should I splurge and just get the Black? (I did note there is an entry under the "camera" tag from April 2012 but its about the GoPro Hero 2. Hopefully my question isn't too redundant)
For fun, a picture of my lease prospect <3
EDIT: Thanks so much for all the feedback everyone! I ended up getting the HERO 3 White and should have a chance to test it out this weekend (polar vortex pending) and will update with videos (: Also, the lease stuff with Rori worked out- just need papers to sign!
