WARNING: unethical/abusive horse buyer/adopter
This is especially for horsepeople in Maine but could apply to anyone in New England and possibly beyond:
DO NOT sell or adopt a horse out to Jerry Hayes of Frenchville, ME, and please warn all your friends about him. He adopted a horse from First Light Farm Equine Shelter in Perry, ME (where I adopted my own horse, and can personally vouch for the shelter), and proceeded to ignore his agreement to provide care for this elderly horse's COPD and arthritis. In addition to that, he neglected and abused the horse, and then, in flagrant breach of the adoption contract, SOLD him to someone.
Luckily, FLFES was able to buy him back and nursed him back to health. He has a forever home with FLFES now.
