something on his ear

My gelding has something really sticky on the tip of his ear. I suspect its tree sap. I left it alone for a few days thinking it would just.. come off, but it hasn't. It doesn't seem to be bothering him at all, but its bothering me. It won't flake off, didn't soak off with a wet rag, and I'm afraid picking at it will hurt his ear ( Read more... )

Peanut butter will loosen up sap, believe it or not.

Or maybe some vinegar on a cotton ball? It's less messy than peanut butter and won't harm him.

rubbing alcohol removes tree sap very quickly.

Oil based fly spray will get it off and your horse won't smell like peanut butter. =)

lol i was going to say peanut butter too!

margarine might work too...:P We have this all natural wound spray that is oily-and it heals things up AMAZINGLY but it leaves a residue that will not come off with soap and water...but margarine takes it off. Kind of wierd!
