So Tuesday I had a trial riding lesson with a new instructor.
So, I was talking to a friend about that my riding lesson and she was not impressedThe instructor T uses rescue horses for her lessons . She was not sure rescue horses like T's should ever be used to give lessons. She thought that Darlynn sounded unsafe with her attempts to spin towards the mounting block. One of T's horses has been with her for 3 months and is still about fifty pounds underweight according to T. My friend did not think this horse should be used yet for lessons if ever as she is a rescue. T's describes her other horse as lazy and stubborn who really needs encouragement to keep going. Friend thought he probably doesn't enjoy his job.
So I'm curious as what you think is required for a horse to be a kid safe lesson horse? What would you absolutely not tollerate what would you dislike but put up with anyway? And how do you know if a horse enjoys its work?
T works a lot iwth kids with emotional and evelopmental delays. How much training do you think a person should have before working with that population? What about those who just work with typically developing kids? What do you think makes a good instructor? Have I asked enough questions?
