Ok so earlier on I went up to my mare in the morning, undid her vet wrap and dressing to find that the proud flesh was swollen, red and handing off. It has grown over night! She was in a lot of pain, kept stamping the leg, shaking her head, but she was so good about it. I wrapped up her tail as it was trailing into the wround and hurting her more and I put sports boots and over reach boots onto the other leg so if any hitting did occur it wouldn't be as bad.
So I did what any concerned mammy did and I gave the vet a call, 4.30pm Hasna was put under sedation and the proud flesh was removed!
I'm relieved despite the fact I've lost my job, my mam will give me a lone, she loves that horse.
I'm just hopeing this is the last of it now, she was half sedated when I lift (at around 5.30pm), the barn manager has been keeping me updated on how she's doing. Her leg is wrapped by the vet at the moment, and all I have to do is hose it down as much as possible and keep pressure.
I will have pics of the proud flesh and the after tomorrow when I get a picture while changing bandages. I couldn't photograps the proceedure as it was so short and hasna fell asleep against my leg! Bless her she had a good old snore!
I hope this is the end, it's been a long 12 weeks of stress, annoying relapses, puzzling and baffling problems, months out of work. I hope I am nearing the finish line with this marathon!
I'm sure she is feeling the same!
(note how the leg is wrapped in this picture, she's been praticly living in bandages for the past few weeks!)
