Hey everyone, it's been ages since I posted, but me and my mare Sunny are gearing up for the eventing season so I thought I'd let everyone know how we were doing and share some pics and stuff:)
After competing the last 2 years at pre-training, or novice, for you folks down in the states, me and Sunny are finally making the move up to training level! We've been through a LOT of struggles these past few years, with dressage being our weakest discipline. Now after a lot of chiropractic work on Sunny this winter/spring, everything is finally coming together, she feels like a totally different horse!!
Last Sunday we had our first derby of the season, which is a mix of stadium and cross country jumps. Despite only having jumped Sunny 3 times over the winter, and we definitely hadn't gotten the chance to school any cross country yet, I decided to give training level a go anyways. Not expecting a lot, I just wanted to go out and have a positive experience for Sunny.
Well Sunny was FABULOUS, and we ended up 3rd!!! I was SOOOOO thrilled with my girl!! She was forward and bold, and even though there was a few scary things she hadn't really seen before, she pressed on regardless:) We were pretty much bang on the optimum time, as were several other riders! Turns out mere hundredths of a second separated first, second, and third:) I was SO happy with her, and I'm so excited for this summer:) I think it's really going to come together this year!!
Anyways, I've got a few pics to share!
Warming up!
Stadium...
Cross country:)
And I got a helmet cam for Christmas from my mom, and I have been waiting patiently all winter/spring to try it out cross country!! Here's our round, and I apologize for the wind, it was so ridiculously windy that day:P On a regular day the camera hardly picks up any wind noise, even at a full gallop:)
