scribing advice

Aug 13, 2010 16:33

Tomorrow is going to by my first time scribing at a "real" dressage show -- I've done it at a ride-a-test at my home barn, but not anything with a real schedule.

Things I know:
-Check that the number, horse, rider, and test all match!
-Use legible shorthand.
-Check before starting the day how the judge would prefer you check which movement is for a score (i.e. as it's given? after the test?).
-Be sure the judge signs the tests before you hand them off to the runner/scorer.
-Bring water.

Any other advice that's served you well? In particular, if you miss a score or comment, what's the best way to deal with it?

Also, it's ridiculous, but I can't for the life of me remember how an error of course is actually marked on a test -- red circle with -2 next to it? Or what?
