Everything You Know About Knees!

Bragg's skin is looking much better- the vet came out and confirmed that vitamin/mineral deficiency seemed to be the culprit. Supplements boosted, and suddenly I've got a bright, shiny red horse.

Problem is, bright, shiny red horse showed up for our lesson yesterday with a puffy right knee. It's not hot. He'll flex it no problem. He'll stand on it no problem. He'll walk on it no problem. At the trot, though, we've got some short-stridedness, and the head shoots up, and we've got a limp. He worked out of it as he moved in his lesson yesterday, but if we stood for awhile, then transitioned to the trot, there were a few strides of OMG PRANCY OW, then back into his normal trot.

Obviously, this is brand new.

He had his feet done today, along with a minor chiropractic. He stood and flexed and walked for the farrier just fine.

Bragg is a 5yo OTTB who toes out on his left fore. He also has a brand new chip on his left fore hoof, which indicates he was doing something redonk in the pasture. He has also been stiff before, which I chalked up to the fact that he was left untouched in a pasture for six months before I got him. This leaves the window WIDE OPEN for what could be up with his knee. Everyone who has seen it has a different opinion on what it is.

I'm waiting for the vet to call me back, but in the meantime, give me your thoughts on knee injuries. I've consulted Dr. Google, but I'd like to hear some actual stories involving real horses and not diagrams.
