Oh ye Gods of Showing, how on earth do I get my stock tie perfect?
I've got the gist of how to do it, and have managed to pull it off on occasion but its always got little wrinkles or isn't quite perfectly straight. So, I know there are some DQ's around here and you must know some super secret stock tying tips, care to share some?
And anyone else, opinions on the stock tie? In the UK/Ireland its a must for the show ring and dressage. Also a lot of eventers wear them. Its not so popular in jumping, tie for men, ratcatcher for women is the norm. I am doing a BHS exam in a week (and with just over two weeks notice. When my horse is on grass, thank you universe.), and I bought a really really nice purple check JW shirt awhile ago, for a bargin, that I am determined to wear. However I have always worn a shirt/tie for exams (baby blue and pink, yes please.) and a stock for the few little shows I've done and when I tried on my shirt and jacket with just a ratcatcher it just doesn't look finished. I may or may not end up wearing my stock on the day, depends on how I feel really, and weather its boiling hot or not, I do not fancy roasting in an indoor school.
Also, I have a black coat, that's ok, and a navy coat that is a nicer shape that I would like to wear, but my helmet is black, yes/no?
And I know, I know, I really shouldn't care about these things, but I do and it stops me worrying about my riding. Plus, no one else there is really going to give a crap what they look like, and I enjoy looking the nicest.
