I feel the need to introduce myself.

My name is Jordan and I am a nineteen year old college student, currently residing in PA. I am from Akron, OH. I've been riding for twelve years and showing for ten. I've ridden at many different barns and in different disciplines. I enjoy them all; but my calling is saddleseat. I currently own one American ( Read more... )

He's 17HH, which being an ASB, makes him look taller--because he has the real big neck. On the other hand, I am also around 5'3". so I guess it could be a combination of both! :)

Oh! How cute. :) I love the pinto ASBs. I showed our shorter ASB mare (a rescue) while I wasn't riding my horse last season. I like the smaller ones but I love my big boy!

Haha, yes. She is a very hot horse. She does not stand still at all. I had to mount her in her stall [at home and at shows], otherwise she would rear up and such because she wanted to go so badly. She is pretty fancy (she used to be a like $60,000 show horse back in the day, she is 21 now! Acts 5) and is one that you touch her reins and she sets herself in frame and just goes. She knows her job, but she is very hot so she's hard to handle. I was the only person at my barn allowed to ride her besides the trainers.

I know how that is. Since Fred is chestnut and most ASBs are, we don't have the problem of standing out. If anything, we blend in. But, the judges tend to notice him and I think because he is so big and natural. But I know a lot of judges have things against the pinto ASBs... I hardly ever see one win around here! I did have one ram me into the rail at my first show on Fred. He spazzed out. :-P But I've always liked them.

+ she really helped me learn to deal with hotter horses, though. So now, it's takes a lot more to scare me when my horse gets excited than it did before I rode her. :)

There is a video of me showing Fred last season where I fell off of him. It was not his fault; neither of us were ready and we were cantering, a girl made a circle and cut us off and I flew over his neck. I was more worried about him than myself and was so mad when he broke the bridle-- I wanted to finish my class!

Exactly. That's how Miss Gem is... and actually, the same with Fred. Fred is a lot "spookier" at home than at a show. At shows, he rarely notices a thing. He just does what he is supposed to do. But, I guess that's how our SS horses are trained! :-p
