Snowy Photo Shoot!

Dec 10, 2009 14:39

Since we had a big snow storm this week, I decided to get out and take some photos of the mares. I hardly ever post photos on here, but I thought these were worth a post! Most of them are of Mylie, my new mare, because Luna just fidgets and tries to eat the camera whenever I go to take pictures of her. I had to sneak up on her to get the photos I did get of her today!

These are all of my lovely Mylie girl... She's not wearing a blanket and although she looks miserable out in the wind, she's not cold. I wish I could get a blanket on her since her run-in shed is not ready yet but she's still wary of me. We've been making some progress though with a bucket of grain. I can now touch her neck and back a bit with grain in hand. I'm hoping to eventually phase out the grain but she's very curious and happy to see me most days so I think she'll be fine in the end!

And of the cheeky Luna in her fancy new blanket. I highly reccommend this blanket for 24/7 horses/ponies. My girl has arthritis and she's on 24/7 turnout with no shelter right now (working on that one!). She wore a Weatherbeeta shell last winter but I decided she needed more this winter and bought this Weatherbeeta Landa Freestyle Midweight blanket (220g of polyfill, 600 denier shell). It's great quality, nice and cozy. I always check blankets when I feed or just go down to cuddle my pony and she's always nice and toasty underneath!. I paid only about $157 CDN (with taxes) and the best part is it comes in a size 66! Plus it's super cute.

And on Tuesday waiting for brekkie at the wrong gate LOL I love my little monkey girl. We've come a long way since my post about her disrespect. She doesn't invade my space as much these days and we are working toward getting her leadable again. I am no longer scared or intimidated by her at all.

And just for fun... My 3 Buff Orpington ducks hanging out in the snow.

Anyway, that's all folks! Hope you enjoyed the horsey photo post :)
