I think it depends, because I have a few that are extra heavy, but I broke one's tail off by mistake once (I was like 12... and dropped it...down the stairs) and that one WAS hollow inside... I don't know about the others.
They are hollow, but they are THICK. I remember being able to see light through my Man-O-War model, but he was the only one that seemed thin. The rest of mine have all been very thick, and the smaller ones are completely filled and not hollow.
the tails, head, and legs are all solid though.
As for the OP: OMG mint condition Trigger? My sister would murder for that, hers is all scratched and the VHS is long gone.
Awww Man-O-War's my favourite racehorse! I always wanted the Breyer but never got hold of it for one reason or another.
Oh snap! It's still for sale (I'm lazy and haven't put anything on ebay yet) so if she's interested, would you give her my email (amphytrite @ gmail . com)? Thanks!
He was like..my second Breyer model ever? And I visit his grave every year at the KY Horse Park (Family lives out there). He is not my fave, but he's definitely on my top 5 list.
I will tell her about it and if she wants it I'll give her your email - I'm not sure she's looking for more Breyers at this moment, but I know she'd like him if she is.
I feel really lucky to have family out that way; and I'll eventually be doing my Master's degree at UK, so hopefully I get more horse time than just the summers I get now. :(
What's really awesome is that it means I get to more easily volunteer for the 2010 equestrian games (!) and the next time the Derby falls on my birthday (May 1st) I'm getting birthday tickets to go (!!) and an obligatory big hat.
Seriously, if you get to go there, take a week. You will need a day at the horse park at least, and drive to Louisville to see the Derby museum and Churchhill Downs (more racer graves are there, too, including Barbaro), take farm tours and see some of the stud farms if you can, and try to get to Keeneleand on an auction day or a race. There are so many horses there, you will just be in heaven!
(sorry, I feel like I'm bragging - I dont know many people other than my sister who like to talk about races and horses and lexington)
Hahaha, coincidentally I just saw a commercial for the Derby. Yes, already.
I would DIE if I got to even seen the 2010 games, let alone volunteer for them. What an incredible opportunity! I've been to Lexington (Virginia) and the VA Horse Park (lol thx Pony Club), which in itself was amazing. I imagine KY is like that but on a far more massive scale, which just sounds so awesome. I read the Thoroughbred series when I was a youth and wished I could go to the places written about, Keeneland and Churchill Downs. I grew up in Atlantic City, and we had our own race course--it's mostly simulcast now, but when I was itty bitty my parents took me there often to see horses race. It was so cool.
Now I have to go to Lexington. Roooooad triiiiiiiiip.
if you go to the Games website there should still be a volunteer form, it's been out for a long time, but the more the merrier, right?
road trip will be totally worth it, I promise. Also, more worth it if you're over 21 and tour all the bourban distilleries, but that's just an added bonus to horses, right? Also, distilleries like Woodford Reserve have horses, so... that's win-win right there.
