2014 FEI World Equestrian Games Are Awarded to Normandie, France.
The other host city in contention (or at least one of them) was Dubai, UAE. It would have been expensive, logistically difficult, expensive, time consuming, REALLY BLOODY EXPENSIVE, and so. freaking. cool. Oh well.
