riding in the snow =]

So I'm just excited about yesterday's ride.

I have anixety issues at work now, so I managed to make it to the stables yesterday. Caught Murray and stood rooted to one spot, with about 3 others horses nearby (or super close, I was right in the middle of them all) for about 30-45 minutes, talking to them, petting and rubbing their faces. Then, I coaxed my boy out with a carrot and brought him into the cross-ties where I groomed him up nicely. His underside/belly, he did not fuss about. Just stood there dozing off into lala land. I need to buy some CowBoy Magic, get rid of the dark stains in his coat. I tacked him up (no fuss, and the bridle went on smoothly, even when I had to lower it abit on the cheek straps.) Brought him down to the arena, mounted up (after checking the girth 2 times.) and took him around. Nice walk and trot, and circles. Had him stand for abit in the middle while a lesson took place. He still stands spread out, but have no idea why at all. Nice and square, but spread out as if he's needing to pee, haha. Then I took him out into the yard for some "trail riding". Went into a empty paddock, and went about 2-3 steps into the snow when Murray decided it was too deep for him, so I took him off into another block of snow, that is slowly melting off better (didn't look as deep as the fresh snow I tried with him). I hope to take him out down the road at a later date, since we have nice weather and snow is melting off the roads at the moment. Also some good training for the future trail ride I plan to take him on as well. Sue said if he acts up on the road, just ride him in the top fields with the other horses. After that ride, untacked him, brushed him off and gave him a full carrot to enjoy. I was really happy with him, seeing as we had such a crappy winter time. (FYI: He was rearing, biting and acting really stubborn before)

No pics, totally forgot my camera in my bag in the boarders tack room. Oops. I'm just happy it was a really good day with him yesterday, no fussing, kicks, rears, pinned ears or biting. =]

love my horse!
