What you gonna do when the walls come falling down,
You never move you never make a sound,
When you gonna swim with the ridges that you found,
If you're lost at sea well I hope that you drown
A quote from Oasis' "All Around the World". I'm posting it cuz its a very bitter lyric...and I'm bitter.
Been working at Bway for a good part of the week. I'm glad this was my last week there, cuz I was getting so fed up with it all. Here's one, semi-long example.
I was supposed to work 1:30-7:30 Thursday, but Krystle asked if I could switch with her (she was working 5-11) since she was closing both Tues. and Wed. nights. I really didn't feel like it, but I said yes anyway (being the nice guy that I am). So, I stopped in around 2 to get my check, and she asks me if I can come in at 4 instead of 5 since Dan left early. Again, I didn't want to but said I would come in between 4 and 4:30 so she wouldn't be alone too long. Left and got back there around 4:20 (shut up, potheads!). She was told to clean out the milk/cream dispenser in the coffee area. So, she did. Now, the thing doesn't get cleaned too often, so there is some buildup of not-so-good cream and milk, but by no means is there enough to make someone ill. However, while cleaning it, she supposedly almost threw up 3 times(wait...was it 5? I'm not sure, cuz the number kept changing each time she told me about it!). Since she was "sick" she asked me if she could take off early. I said OK, thinking she was really sick to her stomach...I'm not one to question. Was she sick though? No. She lied. I heard her talkin to someone on her phone saying that she is getting out "early" so they can go wherever "sooner". AND, she also asked me, due to her sickness, to do her work for her (trash and coffee). WTF? I wasn't biting on that one, which didn't make her happy (cuz, up until that point I had NEVER done anything else for her). So, she left around 6:50, just after her friend came into the store. Nice huh? All that might be confusing, but in short she basically let me do all her work (fill coolers, do trash, etc.) and left early just because she wanted to. Now remember, this is the same employee who I filled in for last-minute when she called in sick, but her AIM away message said she was "Out". I'm thinking that I might have a chat with Dan about her, since I am not the only one who has an issue with her lack of effort placed in the job.
That, and some other stuff, got me to thinking how unappreciative some people can be. I've realized a lot of people in this world simply use others for their own personal gain, and then toss them like a boogied-up tissue. Its quite sad, really. I can honestly say that I have never done that to anyone. Using people is not my type of thing, which I guess is fortunate for everyone who knows me. However, I'm realizing now that since I am "the nice guy" I do get used a lot more than I would like. Just an observation on my part...it won't change the way I am, but I'll just be more aware of it in the future.
So, back to life. Last night was Sarah's going away party. Met up with Tom at his place, waited for Jim and his cousin, and then took the unneccesary 45 minute trip to Tom's Tavern (which we later discovered was merely 10 minutes away). The party was nice. Good to see some people there. Sarah was quite emotional about the whole thing...it was actually quite endearing. We'll all miss her, but there will be plenty of visits in the near future! We all know she will do great! :o)
Quick end, since I should be in bed. Tomorrow is mentally prepping for Netspoke, as well as doing some household chores (yipee). Monday is Netspoke...very excited to get started, but now...what to wear...? Hmmm.
Nite.
PS - mmmm...
iPods. Get on this train people, cuz there won't be another one like it!
