Some random stuff, and happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day, Ma!

Way behind where I need to be with the last of my schoolwork. And since a pretty good chunk of this week is going to be spent moving, that's not so great.

Luckily, I have a visitor who was awesome enough to fly out from San Diego to help me move, and to give me an excuse to try out a few more fabulous restaurants before I leave town.

We had dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant on Friday night, and they had honey wine that was out of this world. They said it was made from honey, raisins, and apples. I'm tempted to try to make it at home, but I'd probably end up with something a little more like pruno.

Yesterday at breakfast a man sitting at the table next to us asked the server, "The portabello mushroom omelette doesn't have mushrooms in it, right?" When informed otherwise, he ordered it sans mushrooms. I'm betting the cooks had fun with that one.

We went to see Giselle yesterday, performed by the Boston Ballet Company. By the time the second act started, I had mostly stopped giggling and had gotten over the fact that we were in the Wang Theatre. I think my body might be missing some parts, because I sure as heck can't do any of the things that the dancers were doing. Wang.

Last night I had the best Cuban sandwich ever. The restaurant we were at was divided into two sections, restaurant and bar. We first sat in the restaurant section, figuring it would be a little more quiet and comfortable. Unfortunately, the Cuban sandwich is only on the bar menu. The waiter told us that we could only order off the bar menu at the bar, which is not true - the restaurant does serve bar food in the restaurant, when your waiter isn't trying to hustle you out of his section to try to get a bigger ticket at his table. The restaurant was dead when we were there, and when the waiter (who now had no tables) saw how much food we had ordered he tried to get the bartender to split the tip with him. She rightly told him to piss off.

Today is more food and paper-writing.
