Just sayin'... LOL

"Things are left out, about what bastards we were.
You have to be a bastard to make it. That’s a fact.
And the Beatles were the biggest bastards on Earth."
~ John Lennon, 1969

Wow. I can understand a little criticism, but pretending to be a dead person is pretty fucking astounding and tasteless, ugh. Your reply was great though. What's funny is that I think the Beatles themselves would, largely, rather be treated like normal people and not living Gods. (Well, Paul might, but the others seem/seemed less fond of the mindless worship.)

Dr. Janov has intimated that one of Lennon's most agonizing burdens of remorse and self-reproach was his treatment of Brian.

Really? Wow! Where can I read more about that?

I've been stuck on Stephy's laptop and sitting on my bed for the past month or so ~ well, since I bunged up my knee ~ and to find the exact reference by John himself I would have to do a long search of my pc's hard drive whenever I can get back over to it (Stephy and Bubbie have had control of it).

However, on short notice I did find what Janov himself said, on his own website: "I've rarely seen pain like John's, and I've seen a lot of pain," says Janov. "It was mostly about his mother but quite a bit about Brian (Epstein) that I can't talk about."
You can read the whole thing at http://www.primaltherapy.com/about-john-lennon-primal-therapy.php

...REALLY? *eyebrow raise*

Of course he cannot talk about it ~ it's physician-patient confidentiality. Also, revealing anything more would severely impact trust with his (and his wife's) existing and future patients ... his honor and his business mean so much more to him than any money he could rake in by blabbing it in some tawdry book.

Yes, there are people left in this world who still have honor.

This is how I read it:
It's well-known that Lennon insisted there was no actual sex with Brian, but he would keep getting close and then pulling away, cruelly teasing him and leading him on. After Brian died, he grew up and came to eventually realize how much the loyal Brian was tortured by him, and the weight of that knowledge was almost unbearable.

Yeah, I mean...I understand the doctor/patient confidentiality thing.

That makes sense. It might have also had something to do with the males in his life as 'cursed'. (his Dad, his uncle George, Stu possibly)

If you buy into that sort of thing ~ being "cursed."
It's one way of trying to justify the basic unfairness of life.
To paraphrase Paul Simon: Some lives don't roll easy.

Well I'M not saying its 'cursed', John said it. (his self-loathing was showing a little)
John just...had a hard life. Dad leaving him (and making him between him and his mom. COLD, man :0) and his Mom sticking him with his Aunt Mimi and then coming back when he was his teenager only to die in a car accident. JEEZ. I don't want to go over ALL of John's unfairness in his life :(

That's what I meant: he bought into all that stuff, not you. :(

There were sooo many people in this world whose lives were worse than his, though ~ but unlike him, they didn't become famous despite it all ~ so we don't think about them in the same way.

Thanks for finding me this, I'll check it out. I totally respect Janov's confidentiality, but man, I'd love to read more about that.

I didn't realize your knee was still bugging you so much! Ick. *hugs*

Too bad we can't take him out to a nice dinner and ask him what he thought of Brian! Hahaa not even mentioning John, because that's who EVERYONE pounds him with. Undoubtedly (through Lennon's therapy) he knows more about Brian than even Yoko does.

Yeah, we ancient relics take months to heal ... Heh, I threaten to have Stephy's nice padded 20-something body skin transplanted onto me! Yeah, and while I'm at it, I want her nice little boobies too.

Ahhhahha, NOT CREEPY AT ALL, CHRISTINE!

I'd love to take that guy out for lunch/dinner! I wonder if you could email or write to him to that end? Might be moot, but might be worth a shot...

Yikes! I would not know how to word something like that without sounding like one of those nuts who obsess on Lennon, or someone who is planning to write a blooomin boook.

It's not like I'm any kind of primal therapy fan or know anything about it. That would undoubtedly be the only subject he would agree to shmooze about.

Have any of you thought that Lennons confessions to Janov was that John and Brian had a long time affair and John was devastated when Brian died? Bullshit, John teased him leading him on and dropping out when things got to hot...are we talking about the same Lennon? The one who would do anything sexually or otherwise because he was so curious and had no brakes on anything in life. Your kidding yourself that John and Brian never had sex! .PS I am not the guy who opened this post by being a dead person.
