I've been getting more and more questions about OS X now that people know there's intel inside and it's an intel that can run windoze. Macs have already been vastly superior systems without these features (it wasn't always that way I'll admit, but yesterday was the 5th birthday of OS X and that's really when the Mac has swung back to being the better platform), but with Vista being delayed yet again people are now more than ever questioning their use of satan's operating system. This is a good thing. So I go forth and tell them about Spotlight, windoze compatibility, security, and iLife. Everyone seems impressed, and then there's the question: "I've never heard about this, why doesn't Apple ever advertise these features?" Apparently, it's a fairly common question. Why wouldn't they advertise these features? Tiger is already better than Vista and it's capable of running on hardware that's almost a decade old, not like Vista at all which will require more than 75% of the windoze user base to upgrade their systems before they could upgrade their OS. The answer is in the form of a question: "How long did it just take me to explain this stuff to you?" The answer has sometimes been as long as whole day over IM or as short as a 15 minute coffee break. That's substancially longer than a 30 second TV spot, and more information that you can reliably fit on a one page magazine ad. This article goes into that sentiment than I will, but suffice to say Apple could be doing more to advertise OS X (and with Leopard launching side by side with the troubled Vista I think Apple will be taking the offensive on that for this holiday season) but for right now they're showing steady growth through the grass-roots campaigns of existing mac users and the increasing number of Apple Retail Stores.

Lost is definitely getting to be more fleshed out than early indications of the 2nd season were suggesting. It was always entertaining, but I could never see where characters had anywhere to go and that was troublesome to me. Now that the plot of the 2nd season is moving full steam ahead, the characters are starting to show themselves. Le yay.

Got my tickets for montreal. All I can think of is how much I hate bus rides with more passengers than there are teeth and thanking the lord iPod's were invented... Le sigh.
