Watched the 24 Season 4 special features. Really interesting stuff about set design and getting the real marines in for the most exciting action sequence in the season. I kind of want to play 24: The Game except that I kind of don't, and it has Kim Bauer in it. 24: Conspiracy is an interesting concept for an ad campaign but it would've been MORE interesting if they had actually gotten the show makers involved because it's acting and lighting was piss poor. I couldn't even make it through the first minute of the whole 24 minutes, so I think that's the opposite reaction they wanted to an advertising campaign. At least they were attempting something in that vein of advertising, as I think that stuff is the wave of the future. They just have to put more into it. With the ability to bittorrent entire seasons of 24, people expect free stuff to be as good as the stuff your expecting them to pay for, just that if they pay they get more stuff. You can't feed them filth, it's their look into the show.
More ideas for my show keep coming to me. The whole prospect just gets my fucking juices flowing. I mean... it's technically a form of animation. Side note: I found out that apparently what I'm trying to do is called
Machinima and there's a whole culture of people doing this stuff. I guess it means it's entirely possible or people wouldn't be doing it. But it also means that there are established ways and content to "live up to" or that will at least affect how my stuff is judged. My concept hasn't changed, I'll just have to do more research into it to make sure I'm not inadvertently doing a Me Too. But yeah it's essentially a form of 3D animation, and even though I won't have control of all the subtleties I'd want at least in the action scenes I could possibly pull off some of the stuff I see in my head. I know I've talked to some of you guys about this before but I have a hard time articulating it but basically picture the best fights of the matrix at the epic scale of Lord of the Rings army battles and you're getting about a 10th of what I see.
Hard Boiled by John Woo is probably the closest in terms of gun battles but even then it doesn't do my visions justice. The problem is to do the stuff I see in my head in real life for camera people would certainly be killed or it would all be visual effects anyways, so animation is the way to go. Anyways I'm rambling but suffice to say I'm more than a little excited.
