MP3 STORY TIME!
The Shangri Las- Train From Kansas City: This girl group from the 60's is most famous for their song "Leader Of The Pack," the over the top ode to teenage motorcycle deaths, complete with dialouge and motorcycle crash sound effects. Many of their songs had levels of melodrama-rama the heights of which were never seen before-- they had a few other songs with a bunch of dead teenagers, and a mostly spoken word track which may or may not have been from the point of view of someone who was raped. Several other songs, however, are just good fuckin pop songs. I do believe this is one of them.
Neko Case- Train From Kansas City: Bless her, Neko Case did a cover of it. She sings in the New Pornographers and does a lot of solo work as well. Hear at least three songs from her, and it's like, damn, she can sang. Both songs manage to stay true to the spirit of the lyrics. Case's version is little bit more country, but there's nothing wrong with that, imo.
Yeah, I have lots of French to do now. Meh. I will probably put up more mp3s if people think these are okay.
