small victories!!

I just finished reading a book that took me forever to read. It wasn’t even that it was bad (it wasn’t), difficult (not really) or I’m dumb (I don’t think so?), my attention just wandered so much it really took me longer than it should have. I feel so accomplished for finally finishing! Now for the other 43598345 books in my pile…

fyi it was The Eternal Frontier: An Ecological History of North America and Its Peoples by Tim Flannery. It was very good, a bunch of stuff I didn’t know about re: extinctions, fauna and climate effects in North America. I felt like it tapered off near the end because he was reiterating stuff I knew/already had opinions on but I suppose that was an issue specific to me. “I feel like I learned something!” is probably one of my favorite feelings to get after reading a book.

Seriously though now I have to take it back to the library because I think I extended the loan twice :-|||

Oh and I feel like now I can appreciate the Gnarls Barkley song "Crazy" for being pretty good because at the time it came out it was so inescapable I just had to take a multiyear sabbatical from listening to it. That said I don't think "Waka Waka" will be able to be rehabilitated in such a manner but who knows, I will have to revisit it in 2015 or so.
