she laughs at most everything, whether it's funny or not

I'd like to say my LJ absence has been due to my exciting pirate adventures, but the most pirating I've been doing is downloading ungodly amounts of Cursive and old emo. Yarrrrrr.

I've also been reading a book, which is amazing, since I forgot people still had those. It's called Foucault's Pendulum and it is very good so far. It takes me a long time (for me) to read a page though, because the sentence structure is intense. And it's a translation, so I don't even want to know how it looks like in Italian.

I saw The Warriors and Battle of Algiers yesterday. Dude, Warriors FTW. I really liked it, even with the cheesy transitions they added on. I approve of it. Battle of Algiers was very well done. I was on the edge of my seat for the whole thing and it's creepy how some of the things they said there could be applied now.

Yeah, I'm just out of my head right now. Here are some mp3s for your trouble.

Dead To Me- Visiting Day
Dead To Me- Don't Lie
This is a new band, new in the sense that they just formed. It has members of Western Addiction and One Man Army in it though. They play fast punk. I really don't mind that they're on Fat Wreck-- you can talk about Fat Mike/NOFX all you want, that label (in addition to Nitro) has insane quantity of good bands. The bass player wrote Visiting Day (and a few other of the songs on the album, called Cuban Ballerina) about going to rehab. I heard the whole thing, and let me tell you-- get it, if you're into that sort of thing.

Orchid- Epilouge of a Car Crash
This was the first Orchid song I ever heard (I think I was in the eighth grade) and it's still my favorite. It is a goddamn shame they're not around anymore.

Bad Astronaut- Killers and Liars
This is the side project of Joey Cape (from Lagwagon) and a few other people. Usually I'm wary of side bands, because sometimes it's just an excuse to make shitty music, but BA is a great band in its own right. I put this up because they announced they're doing a new album (their third). I am quite delighted.

The Noisettes- Malice in Wonderland
Maybe I'm a big hater, but I usually can't stand bands with female lead singers (Sleater Kinney is one exception). I love this band though, and I think their lead singer is one of the best I've heard in a while. Plus, they're British, which counts for a lot, y/n.
