This afternoon, I spilled a full glass of water on my laptop.

Yes, I turned it over, removed the bottom panel, padded it dry, and set it in front of a fan. It's not yet turning on, but I'm going to leave it alone for a couple of days and try again. It worked the last time this happened (and that was with coffee -- and not my fault).

However, even in a best case scenario, I don't have my normal laptop for the next couple of days. In a worst case scenario, it may be considerably longer.

My techie friends reassure me that an accident like this shouldn't damage the contents of the hard drive. That's my deepest fear (because it hasn't been backing up automatically for a while, I think -- which is something I'll fix soon). But the cost of a new laptop would also . . . suck a lot right now, especially with the wedding.

I'll get by. Basically, be warned that I won't be online much, and use my cell phone if you need prompt replies.
