The biggest thing that happened to me this year was that I lost my much-beloved kitty in May. I'm starting to be okay but I am also very not okay. I miss her so much.
In September, my job decided that remote work is no longer acceptable and that anyone who did not care to relocate across the country will no longer be employed. They have let a lot of people go. So far my team has been minimally affected, but it's coming. Given that the work and my boss are awful, I have mixed feelings.
Also on the work front, I finished my Technical Writing Certificate in the spring (and have done zero things with it).
Travelwise, I went to the coast; on my usual Shakespeare trip; to Bend; Chicago, including the town where I grew up; and Las Vegas.
In the theater, I saw Three Musketeers, Six, and Les Miserables (four times). Six was the first time I'd been back to an indoor theater.
I watched 10 movies.
My goal was to read more poetry, and I did. I read about 15 pages a night and plan to continue. My favorites were Goblin Market; Trilogy by H.D.; and View with a Grain of Sand by Wislawa Symborska.
I posted 32 fics, for a word count of 392,698. I made it to 1 million words posted on A03 (since 2020). The total word count that I wrote this year was 418,139 (not everything gets posted).
My favorite books that I read this year were:
Clearcut - Nina Shengold
Daisy Jones and the Six - Taylor Jenkins Reid
Fools and Mortals - Bernard Cornwell
Nora Goes Off Script - Annabel Monaghan
The Girls I've Been - Tess Sharpe
I made a list of things I want to accomplish in 2024, but I don't really know what's going to happen.
