I just finished my Nanowrimo novel.
FROM 2010.
I have this bad habit of reaching 50,000 words and then just kind of... stopping.
I had this crazy scathingly brilliant idea that I should finish all my WIPs before this November.
So I wrote all weekend and finished the damn thing. It still needs to be rewritten (very very badly) and I don't know what to do with it after that, but let's just focus on the big win here. I finished something. And I wrote. A lot.
What I learned this weekend is that the more I write, the more I want to write. Which makes sense, since it also works that the less I write, the less I want to write. It took about three hours of writing before I got excited about it again. I know I've abandoned things with less than three hours invested. Maybe they needed more of a chance.
Next up... finishing Nano 2008 (I think, I lose track). That one only had about 20,000 words done when I abandoned it. Maybe after that I'll get really crazy and fix up/finish Nano 2005. I think this will be my 10th year of Nanowrimo, maybe it is fitting to free myself from all those past, neglected tales.
