finally saw the new Star Trek
I'm a bit behind the times...anyway.
I liked the part where they found DesmondScotty in the hatch on Hoth.
It was enjoyable enough.
Part of me wants to reject all the time travel/alt universe stuff, but that was part of the original Trek too so I guess that would be unfounded. I want to blame most of my discomfort with the movie on the involvement of JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof, with some thoughts long the lines of how my fandoms (Lost) and my parents' fandoms I was raised with (Trek) should be unmixy things. But maybe it's less the intersection of the two than the reboot concept in general, something "old" being taken over and remolded with the influences of my own generation.
