Sometimes that other Juliet would force open the door and she would find herself drowning again in salt tears. She isn't crying now. )

Like the dark part of a fairy tale, indeed. I can see how, in the end, Juliet HAD to believe Jack because it was the only way she could save Sawyer's heart. Because how could Sawyer survive having trusted again for the first time since he was a child, and not only being abandoned again, but this time having the one he trusted choose to leave him? I love Juliet, but Sawyer never put one foot wrong with her and she should've trusted him the way that he trusted her. He deserved that and he earned it. Her own insecurities brought it all tumbling down and she's right, in this fic, that the only way to fix it (to fix *him*, after she sees how horribly she's broken him) is to make Jack's plan work. At that point it's the only humane thing she can do.

This is a disturbing fic but it's excellent for the prompt "character study." I'm gonna go cuddle Sawyer now, if that's okay.

I don't think you can blame it all on her insecurities. I mean, it would have happened anyway, right? And I can't really fault a girl for being insecure, but that's just me.

The point is, now Sawyer won't know why you're cuddling him!

well, I tried to fix it anyway

Your writing is beautiful, evocative, and so very real. You nailed Juliet in this, her feelings, her nature, her choices. You made it far more believable than canon.

Lovely.

Thank you. I have the feeling this is what they were going for with canon, they just were so ineffective at it that it took me like a month and a half to go "oh, wait! Maybe that's why!"

Or else I'm just making things up to please myself.

Yeah, probably the second one.

Dark and angsty, yes, but also very deep and moving. Beautifully done!

Juliet may not be crying, but I am. That was beautifully written and completely heartbreaking.

Awww. It got me a little, too, while I was writing it.
