Fire at Universal Studios. Destroyed the clock tower from Back to the Future, New York and England streets, and King Kong. Also a vault with 40-50,000 videos.

My mom had sent me an email saying it also destroyed the Psycho house and a bunch of other stuff, but the AP doesn't have those on their list so hopefully that's incorrect.

In a way, I think it's a little weird because a previous fire had destroyed the end of the street near Back to the Future's clock tower, and I think the last fire took out NY street and they rebuilt it.

And it makes me sad, because that backlot *IS* movie history. I guess to most people it's just a theme park, but those sets are always what made going there worthwhile and interesting to me. It's where so much of it happened.

Last night I had a crazy dream about a miniseries from like 1984 where these two sisters had to fix everything that was going wrong when things their father had written started to become real. It was all about movies and TV and stuff, and at one point I looked around and said, "Oh, this is Warner Brothers." The backlots really are distinctive if you've been there and seen them enough, and pay attention.
