Mamma Mia!
This afternoon I saw the touring company of Mamma Mia, which is the musical based around ABBA songs. I had an obstructed view seat -- unfortunately the obstruction was the BIG FAT HEAD of the guy in front of me. So annoying!
The show was fun. I started out all grumpy and not buying it, but eventually it won me over. It's singing and dancing and ABBA, who can resist? It's not astounding but it is great fun.
"Dancing Queen" is the real show-stopper in the first act, and the finale is the best, most fun part of the whole show. The people who did the "LA exit" thing, ducking out at the first sign of it being over, seriously missed out. Doubly, because there was no traffic at all when it let out.
The sets were so pretty, too, white and blue.
Oh, AND, they're making a movie of this, which I am now DYING to see, because I cannot begin to picture Meryl Streep(!) in this.
