Lost hiatus ideas

Sep 17, 2006 09:21

I know I am insane for thinking about this already. But I had an idea I think is good and might work, so tell me what you think.

It would combine the notions of one of those self-serve, non-matched up ficathons with something along the lines of Lost squee. For some reason, the phrase "hiatus advent calendar" is what's in my head, because there's one story for every day. It would go something like this:

Oct 4 - Nov. 10: People submit story ideas they would like to see written
Nov. 10 or so, or maybe ongoing so the first story would be Nov 9?: List of ideas is posted. Each idea is matched with a date. People sign up for a particular date/idea, then post the story on that date.

(So the completed sign-up would look something like:
Dec. 25 - Sawyer discovers the Others' box of nativity costumes - claimed by eponine119
only less ridiculous.)

People would have the luxury of picking their own deadline, and can work around holidays/trips/finals. And it's less pressure for the participants, since they're writing one story instead of trying to produce something every day. But at the same time, theoretically, we could have something new to read every day until the hiatus is over. With something like 90+ days to cover, there would be plenty of opportunities, without being overwhelming.

What do you think? What potential for disaster am I overlooking? Most importantly, do you think people would participate? Would YOU participate?
