Orchestra and DP
In orchestra we are playing some of the hardest reperatoire for the oboe in an orchestral setting. Of course I say I'll play english horn because the girl who played it last semester didn't want to (we kind of forced it on her then) and the other girl said she didn't have time to "learn a new instrument" which is bullshit because we are equally busy and it's the same instrument, but longer. Fuck that. Now, instead of learning music I will probably need for an orchestral audition someday, I am playing the part which I could perform tomorrow ALL TERM.
WHY?!?!?!?
One of them doesn't know the high notes and is writing them into the part and the other can play the high notes, but can't read them. Why is my orchestral career fucked here?
Also, did I mention that they are ALL too busy for a double reed ensemble. Fucked twice. We might as well call it double penetration, which in my case, does NOT feel good. (Although I recognize the fact that it has the potential for some people to be extremely pleasurable).
GAH! I feel like I practice 2 hours a day (most days) for nothing, since no one else practices and I'm stuck actually being the responsible musician.
On the bright side, I got a few new plants today, which always seems to make life happier. :)
