[recs]: 5 x hannibal
Lately I've been doing a bit of reading from the Hannibal fandom, and there are quite a few gems that I thought would be a crime not to share with you guys. I don't know how many of you are actually into Hannibal - but in any case, whether you are or not, here are 5 fics that I think you will enjoy!
croik: Mauling | Gen
This, people, this fic is the quintessential Hannibal and Will fic. Built around a therapy session in which Will is Will and Hannibal analyses him so accurately it's almost frightening, I would almost go so far as to say that you can't really understand these two until you've read this. It's almost a missing scene in the series, and so in-character I almost half-expect it to pop up in future episodes. A must-read.
Basically: In which neither of them are heroes, but both are the flame.
the_esaurus: I'm a Chemical Too | Hannibal/Will/Abigail
This one is a dark little piece. I adore it because it paints what I think is a really accurate picture of how fucked-up these three would be if they shacked up together as a 'family'; it doesn't romanticise anything, it doesn't shy away from ground it shouldn't, and to be honest now that I've read this I can't view the three of them having any other kind of ending.
Basically: They are the most dysfunctional (read: murderous) family ever.
Randstad: La Maison Rouge | Hannibal/Will
I'm almost convinced everyone has already read this - the Kudos count alone would be enough to convince me - but in case any of you haven't, this is the most lovely Hannibal-invades-Will's-life-and-then-they-shag fic I've ever seen. It's so charmingly written, so utterly them. I'd originally thought there was no way they could get together in any romantic fashion without a huge degree of Very Fucked Up, but this fic has proved me wrong! I just adore it.
Basically: Hannibal cooks, Will panics at first, and then the inevitable happens.
Beguile: Distractions | Gen
On the one day Will forgets his aspirin, the Chesapeake Ripper strikes. This is such an artfully written fic in that it's told from Will's perplexed POV, but as readers, we can easily see how Hannibal is the one behind all of this; which is the entire TV show, basically. I love the suspense in this.
Basically: Hannibal is one sly son of a bitch.
lonelywalker: Aim Above Morality | Hannibal/Will
After submerging himself in a crime scene, Will gets a panic attack and Hannibal has to take him home. This one is porny, but it's the best kind of porn in that it's character development too; plus it's actually quite refreshing to see a Hannibal/Will in which the relationship is already established from the get-go.
Basically: Hannibal is gentle up until the point when Will wants it rough.
