A poem for an old friend

Mar 21, 2008 19:49

Hey there old friend
And arch enemy

I know who you are- and what you do to me
Is it fair?
Is it just?

Time after time you use me
You take my time, my money

My soul

Why is it me always giving
And you always taking?

And although you make me hurt, make me ache

I do not hate you

You can not help it

It is your nature

I despise you
And I love you

I know that although you are cruel
You can make me a better person

Perhaps make me love myself-
If I try hard enough

And although I have not seen you in so long
Although it has been ages since I've walked to your doorstep
Reluctant at times

I will return one day

To the gym

Because I am a lazy fat ass
